Terms of Use.
What you're getting, what you're responsible for, and what we can and can't do. Written in plain language because you shouldn't need a lawyer to read a free journal.
Last updated · October 2026The short version
Edge Console is a free, local-first trading journal. You own your data, and you're responsible for backing it up. The app is provided as is, with no warranty, and nothing on this site is financial advice. Optional cloud sync exists — it writes a single backup file to your own Google Drive, and it's off until you turn it on. If you use the app, that's the deal.
Using the app means you accept these terms. If you don't agree with any part of them, the simplest thing to do is stop using it — you don't owe us anything, and there's nothing to cancel.
What this agreement covers
This agreement is between you and the person who operates Edge Console ("we", "us", "the app"). It covers everything on this site: the trade journal, the trade breakdown pages, the habit tracker, the to-do list, the session map, the cognitive gym, the account page and its optional cloud sync, the shop page, the blog, the guide, and the site-info pages you're reading now.
Using the site — or any part of it — means you accept these terms. You don't have to sign anything, and there's no checkbox to tick. The act of using the app is the agreement.
Using the app
Edge Console is a browser-based tool. It runs entirely on your device, using
localStorage for text and OPFS for chart snapshots.
There is no account system required, no email signup, and no subscription.
localStorage and
OPFS enabled. If your browser blocks or clears either, the app
will appear to forget everything between sessions.
Your data is your responsibility
This is the most important section of these terms, and the one worth reading twice. Everything you log lives on your own device — text in your browser's local storage, snapshots in your browser's OPFS. We don't have a copy, we can't recover a lost one, and we have no way to see what's in yours.
That's the whole architecture — and it's why the app ships with export tools in four places, plus an optional cloud backup if you want one.
Cloud sync (optional)
Sync is a feature, not a requirement. It is off until you turn it on, and it can be turned off at any time by signing out or revoking access. It exists for one purpose: to keep a backup copy of your journal inside your own Google Drive so a wiped browser, a new laptop, or a fresh install doesn't cost you the entire record.
If you do enable it, this is the arrangement:
edgeconsole.json, is written to a hidden
application folder (appDataFolder) inside your Google account.
That folder is only visible to the app that created it. Nothing travels
through a server of ours, because there isn't one.
drive.appdata, which is
restricted to the app's own hidden folder.
Not financial advice
Edge Console is a journaling tool. It records what you do. It does not tell you what to do, and nothing on this site or inside the app should be read as investment, financial, or trading advice.
This applies to every part of the site:
Affiliate and referral disclosures
Some links on this site earn us a small commission if you sign up or buy through them. That's how the app stays free. Nothing on this site is a paid placement, and no brand has paid to be listed.
These are the only kinds of monetization on the site:
Full affiliate disclosure appears on every page that contains such links. If you'd rather not support us that way, you're free to search for the same products, firms, or platforms directly — we won't mind.
No warranty
Edge Console is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. That includes — but isn't limited to — the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We don't warrant that:
This isn't a legal formality. It reflects the reality of a static site built and maintained by one person. If something breaks, tell us and we'll try to fix it — but we can't promise a fix, and we can't promise a timeframe.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of Edge Console. This includes — without limitation — lost profits, lost data, lost trading capital, missed opportunities, or business interruption.
Because the app is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or from your use of the app is limited to zero. Nothing was paid, nothing is owed.
Acceptable use
Edge Console is a personal tool. You're welcome to use it however you'd use a paper journal. In return, please don't do these things:
Frequently asked
The plain-language answers to the questions that come up most about the terms — the ones people actually want to ask before they skim a legal page.
Do I actually have to read all of this?
No. But if you're going to read one section, read Your data is your responsibility — it's the one with practical consequences. Everything else is standard boilerplate reduced to plain English: what you're getting, what you're not getting, and how we behave if something goes wrong.
The short version at the top of the page is a fair summary of the whole document. If it ever disagrees with a longer section somewhere below, the longer section wins — that's the point of the shortcut.
What am I actually agreeing to by using the app?
Four things, in this order:
- You're getting a free tool, provided as-is, with no warranty.
- You own your data, and you're responsible for backing it up.
- Nothing on this site is financial advice.
- If you break something on purpose or abuse the service, we can't be held responsible for the fallout.
That's the whole deal. There's no hidden obligation, no minimum commitment, no auto-renewal, nothing to cancel.
Can you change the terms without telling me?
Not invisibly. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page changes whenever the document does, and the document itself lives in version control — so anyone can compare old and new versions. That's one of the reasons it's a static site and not a database-driven one.
Beyond that, substantive changes — the kind that would actually matter to a user — get announced in the app itself. Typo fixes and clarified wording don't, because they don't change the deal.
What happens if the app breaks or loses my data?
If it's a bug, tell me and I'll try to fix it. If it's data loss (browser wipe, extension conflict, new laptop), there's not much I can do — because I never had a copy of the data in the first place. That's the architectural trade-off: nobody, not even me, can see your journal.
Which is exactly why the app gives you two ways to protect yourself: Export produces a JSON file you can keep anywhere, and Sync keeps a rolling backup in your own Google Drive. Using at least one of them is worth the two minutes it takes to set up.
What happens if I don't agree with something?
Stop using the app. That's the whole remedy. There's no account to close, no subscription to cancel, no refund to process, no cancellation period to sit through. You can just close the tab.
If you've enabled cloud sync and want to be thorough, revoke access from myaccount.google.com/connections and remove the app's hidden folder from your Drive. Everything else disappears the next time you clear your browser data.
Can I use Edge Console for my clients, or resell it?
Personal use — yes. Use it yourself, save an offline copy for your own device, share the link with friends, mention it in a video. All of that is fine.
What's not fine is repackaging it as your own product. You can't re-host it publicly, sell access to it, ship it inside a commercial product, or strip the footer and pass it off as something else. If you want to do something commercial with it, ask first — most things can be worked out.
Is there any subscription or payment at all?
No. No subscription, no Pro tier, no paywall waiting at trade 100, no premium features gated behind a payment, no ads, no "free trial" that turns into something else.
The only revenue this project earns comes from optional affiliate links on the shop and explore pages — which don't cost you anything extra and can be ignored entirely. If you never click one of those, the app still costs you nothing, ever.
What if cloud sync doesn't work the way I expected?
Sync is a convenience, not a guarantee. It usually works — but "usually" is the honest word. If two devices change data at the same time, the conflict resolves in a particular way and it may not be the way you'd have chosen. If Google's servers hiccup, sync waits and retries later.
The practical advice: keep exporting occasionally even if sync is on. The export is a snapshot you control, on storage you control, and it survives every kind of failure including ones sync can't recover from.
What if I'm in a jurisdiction where these terms don't work?
Then the local law wins. If you're a consumer in a jurisdiction with mandatory consumer-protection rules — the EU, the UK, Australia, and many others — those rules override anything here that would conflict with them. Nothing in this document is intended to strip rights you have by law.
If part of these terms is unenforceable where you are, that part is severed and the rest still applies. This is standard severability, and it's the clause that keeps a document like this working across many different legal systems.
Changes to these terms
These terms may change over time — usually to add clarity, sometimes to reflect how the app has changed, and occasionally to tighten something that was ambiguous. When that happens, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page changes with it.
Substantive changes will be noted on the app itself. Continuing to use Edge Console after a change means you accept the updated terms. If you don't, your remedy is simple: stop using it. There's no account to close and nothing to cancel.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws applicable at the operator's principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or from your use of the app is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at that location.
If you're reading this from a jurisdiction where parts of these terms are unenforceable, those parts are severed, and the rest of the terms remain in effect. Nothing here is intended to override rights you have under mandatory consumer-protection law in your own jurisdiction.
Whole agreement
These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, form the entire agreement between you and us regarding Edge Console. They replace any prior discussion, promise, or understanding — verbal or written — about the app.
If any provision is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in force. If we don't enforce a provision on one occasion, that doesn't waive our right to enforce it later.
Contact
If anything here is unclear, or if you think a clause should say something different, the fastest way to fix it is to say so. Legal documents that nobody reads don't protect anyone — this one is meant to be read.
