About Edge Console.

A quiet, local-first trading journal that measures behaviour before profit. Runs entirely in your browser, keeps everything on your device, and — if you want it to — backs itself up to your own Google Drive. No signup required, ever.

What it is

Most trading journals are spreadsheets that slowly die. You log a few trades, the formulas break, and three weeks later you're back to guessing why last month went badly. Edge Console is a small suite of tools built to fix that — not by adding more numbers, but by treating your behaviour as the thing worth measuring, not just your P&L.

The whole thing runs in your browser. There is no signup, no email capture, and no server of ours. Your trade log, your habits, your to-do list — all of it lives on your own device. Text goes into localStorage; chart snapshots go into OPFS, a private storage area your browser gives the app that's measured in gigabytes, not megabytes. Close the tab and it's still here. Clear your browser data and it's gone — which is why the app ships with a one-click JSON export, and with an optional sync to your own Google Drive.

Your P&L is downstream of your behaviour. Fix the behaviour and the P&L tends to follow — that's the entire thesis behind this console.

Where your data lives

Three places, and all three of them are yours. Nothing sits on a server of ours, because there isn't one.

✓
localStorage — the text. Trades, rules, habits, to-do lists, and the playbook. Small, fast, and it never touches a network.
✓
OPFS — the heavy files. Chart snapshots attached to each trade. Gigabytes of private, on-device room that stays in your browser and nowhere else.
✓
Your Google Drive — optional. A single backup file, written to a hidden app folder only Edge Console can see. Off by default. Revocable at any time.

Together, that's the whole story. Everything you type stays on your device. The chart snapshots that used to force a compromise — blurry, compressed, or simply missing — now just live in storage that was built for them. And if you want a second copy in case the browser ever gets wiped, sync writes one file to your own Drive. You can revoke access from your Google account whenever you like; nothing is held anywhere you can't see.

What's inside

Ten modules. They're meant to be used in a specific order, but nothing stops you from starting wherever you want.

Dashboard Discipline score, clean streak, drawdown curve, R-distribution, session and duration analysis.
Log Trade & Journal Post-trade review with position sizing, R-multiple, and a rule-by-rule checklist you tick yourself.
Trade Breakdown Every trade has its own page — chart, story, execution, lesson. Print it or save it as a clean PDF.
Rules & Risk Account size, risk caps, daily loss limit, max trades, backup and restore. Everything else reads from here.
Habit Tracker Daily check-ins, streaks, consistency curve — and how your average R changes on habit days vs non-habit days.
To-Do Pre-market, post-session, plus separate personal lists for home, health and mind. Routines reset daily.
Session Map Animated timeline of the Asian, London and New York sessions — live volatility, phases and what to expect.
Cognitive Gym Fifteen short drills — reaction time, impulse control, working memory, mouse precision, keyboard speed, chess.
Account & Sync Optional. Sign in with Google and a backup file is written to a hidden, private folder inside your own Drive.
Notion Edge A local rich-text editor for trade reviews and plans. Save any document as a self-contained HTML file.

What it doesn't do

This is the part most software skips. Here's what Edge Console deliberately leaves out, and why.

✕
No signup required. The app works fully offline, forever, with no account. Cloud sync is optional — and when you turn it on, your data flows through your own Google Drive, not a server of ours.
✕
No tracking, no analytics. Nothing you type, log, or check off is ever sent to us. There are no analytics scripts, no tracking pixels, and no third-party code in the app — the one exception is the account page, where Google's sign-in client loads so you can optionally connect your Drive.
✕
No subscription, no "Pro" tier. There is no paywall waiting for you at trade 100. The app is free and stays free.
✕
No trading signals, no AI advice. It's a journal. It helps you record and review your decisions — it never tells you what to trade.

The shop, the blog, and the guide

There are three other parts of this site worth being upfront about.

The shop is a small list of hardware, books and gear linked through Amazon. If you buy through one of those links, Amazon pays a small commission at no extra cost to you. Nothing on the shop is sponsored and nothing is listed because a brand asked — if something stops being worth recommending, it comes off the list. The blog is written when there's something worth saying, not on a schedule. And the guide is a short walkthrough of the console itself — where to start, what order to do things in, and what each module is actually for.

All three exist for the same reason: they help keep the app free. That's the whole arrangement. No ads, no data selling, no upsells.

Who's behind it

Edge Console is built and maintained by one person — a trader who kept losing the thread of his own process and wanted a tool that treated discipline as something measurable instead of motivational. The app is what came out of that.

Everything here is written, designed and coded by hand. No agency, no team, no funding round. If something is broken, missing, or reads wrong, telling me is the fastest way to fix it.

Frequently asked

The questions that come up most about the app, its storage, and how any of this works without a server behind it.

Is Edge Console really free?

Yes — permanently. There's no free tier that quietly expires, no "Pro" version hiding behind a paywall, and no plan to introduce one. The running costs are near zero because everything executes in your browser.

The only revenue this project earns comes from optional affiliate links on the shop and explore pages — which don't cost you anything extra. If you never touch those, the app still costs you nothing.

Do I need to sign in or create an account?

No. There is no account system required to use any part of the app. You can log trades, track habits, run drills and use the to-do list without ever telling us who you are — because there's no us to tell.

The only reason to sign in is if you want optional cloud sync, and even that is really a Google Drive permission rather than a login to our system. You can revoke it at any time from your Google account.

Where does my data actually live?

Three places, and all three belong to you:

  • localStorage — trades, rules, habits, to-dos, playbook, and settings.
  • OPFS — chart snapshots attached to each trade. This is a real filesystem inside your browser, capable of holding gigabytes.
  • Your Google Drive (only if you enable sync) — one backup file, hidden inside an app-only folder.

None of it is stored on a server of ours. There isn't a server of ours.

What happens if I clear my browser data?

Everything is gone. Every trade, every habit check-in, every task, every chart snapshot. Browser storage doesn't leave a trash folder, and we can't restore anything — because we never had a copy.

That's exactly why the app gives you two safety nets. Export produces a single JSON file you can keep wherever you like. Sync keeps a rolling backup in your own Google Drive. Both are one click. Using at least one of them is worth the two minutes.

Can I use it on more than one device?

Yes — two ways, depending on how much moving you're willing to do.

Manual: export a JSON backup from the first device, then import it on the second. This has always worked and always will, and it's the method to use if you'd rather not sign in anywhere.

Automatic: enable cloud sync on both devices with the same Google account. Changes flow through your own Drive, and each device picks up whatever the other wrote. No account on our side, no third party in the middle.

What is OPFS, and why does it matter?

OPFS stands for Origin Private File System. It's a real storage API that every modern browser ships — a private, per-site filesystem your tab can read and write, but no other site can touch.

Before this, chart snapshots had to squeeze into localStorage, which is designed for small text and tops out around 5 MB. Screenshots had to be aggressively compressed, and even then a handful of them would fill the quota. With OPFS, snapshots are stored as real files that can add up to gigabytes, and the trade log stops worrying about space.

Everything in OPFS still lives entirely on your device, and it's the same storage the browser uses to run itself. You can check how much space the app is using from the Account page.

Does the app work offline?

Yes. Once a page has loaded, every part of the app runs without an internet connection — logging trades, tracking habits, editing the playbook, running the cognitive gym. Nothing waits on a network.

The only two things that need a connection are external links (Amazon, platforms, prop firms) and cloud sync — because those actually involve other servers, on purpose.

Why is there a shop, and why Amazon?

The shop exists because people kept asking what desk setup, what books, what hardware. Writing it down once is easier than repeating it — and Amazon's affiliate program happens to be the one that pays out without a signup form of its own.

Nothing on the shop is sponsored. Every item is something I actually use or would recommend. Commissions are usually a few dollars per purchase and don't affect what you pay. You can ignore the shop entirely and the app works the same.

Is this a real product or a side project?

Both, honestly. It's built and maintained by one person, and it's not trying to become a company. But it's also not a weekend prototype — the sync, the breakdown pages, the OPFS storage layer, the retention of every trade ever logged all work because they need to.

It's the tool I wanted for myself, and it happens to be the tool other people wanted too. That's the whole pitch.

The short version
